This is how the shooting of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ happens: Amitabh Bachchan takes a break of 3 hours between two episodes, the audience is not scripted




Amitabh Bachchan is soon returning to television with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’. Recently Big B shot its promo. Registrations for this new season have started from 26th April. After registration, what is the next step? What types of auditions are there? How do you prepare for the fastest-finger round? What is the atmosphere like on the set? How many hours does host Amitabh Bachchan shoot? After how many days does one get the money won in the show? Do I get the full winning amount? To get answers to all these questions, Dainik Bhaskar talked to contestant Neha Shah, who won Rs 1 crore in KBC 12. Neha, a resident of Mumbai, answered all these questions openly. Let us know what he said: Process from registration to hot seat Step 1- Contestant’s preparation starts about 4 months before the show is telecast. After the launch of the first promo, every day at 9 pm on Sony channel, Amitabh Bachchan asks a question to the audience, which has to be answered. It is registered on Sony Liv app. Step 2- The production team selects some of the registered contestants and then calls them back. Three questions are asked to him on the call. In the first two questions, 4 options are given. For every question, one correct answer has to be given out of these 4 options. The last question is number-based. For example- When did India get independence? To answer this, one has to type 1947 on the keypad of the phone. On answering all three questions correctly, you are shortlisted for the next step. Step 3- The third step is audition. Most of the auditions are held in Mumbai only. Contestants selected from outside Mumbai are called to Mumbai as per their availability. The entire expense is borne by the team itself. Live auditions of contestants take place at this level. About 20 questions have to be answered live – some in writing and some in video rounds. Details of the contestant’s personal life are captured in this video. Step 4- If any contestant answers all the questions correctly then the team calls them again to Mumbai. Preparations begin to attend the show. Several rehearsals take place before the fastest-finger round. The sole purpose of this rehearsal is to ensure that the contestants do not make any mistakes. Step 5- Amitabh Bachchan himself takes the contestant who answers in the shortest time to the hot seat. Step 6- By giving correct answers to the questions on the hot seat, the contestant can fulfill the dream of winning crores of rupees. What are the things contestants have to keep in mind: – It is advised not to wear white or light colored clothes as they do not look good on camera. – Contestants can wear their favorite clothes provided it is of dark color. – The contract is signed before joining the show. There are some basic terms and conditions in this contract. For example, whatever the contestant has told about himself, it should be true. Do not disclose the show and the winning amount to anyone before telecast. Pictures taken during shooting should not be published on any platform before telecast. The winning amount will be received within 45-60 days from the telecast. – Practice is also given to not get nervous in front of Amitabh Bachchan. What is the atmosphere like on the set – After the fastest-finger round, a break is taken. During this break, the contestants have their basic hair and makeup done. – When the show starts, the camera is zoomed-in. 5-6 people work on that camera. – Usually the team gives 1.5 to 2 hours to shoot with a contestant. – If someone gets nervous after seeing Amitabh Bachchan, the entire team gets involved in making him relax. Amitabh Bachchan himself leads this team. Apart from the audience, a team of about 100 people is present on the set. These include Amitabh Bachchan’s stylist, hair stylist, cameraman, lightman, spot boy, medical team, executive producer. Is the audience scripted? – No. On the set, only care is taken that no one creates any kind of issue during the shooting. After the shooting, the audience can chat with Amitabh Bachchan. – There is approximately 150 audience present which is divided into two parts. These audiences are seated face to face. – After the shooting of every episode, Big B poses for a group photo with the audience. Do I get the full winning amount? According to the Income Tax law, tax has to be paid on the prize money also. This thing is told to the contestants beforehand. – Income Tax Department collects 30% tax directly on prize money. How does Amitabh Bachchan shoot? – Host Amitabh Bachchan gives his date of 6 months for the show. – The shooting plan is made according to their date. – Big B is present on the set 4 hours before the shooting starts. – Mostly two episodes are shot in a day – with a break of 3-4 hours between the two episodes. During this break they mostly rest on the set. Sometimes, he also completes the meetings of his other projects during this break. – Come to the set only after reading the basic script. The first episode of KBC 16 will be telecast in August. Registration for KBC 16 has started. The last day for registration is 7th May 2024. Personal interview and general knowledge test of the contestants will be held from 24th May to 9th June. The first episode of KBC 16 will be telecast in August 2024.
